About K-Factor Engineering
K-Factor Engineering, LLC was founded by Kevin Hall, P.E., a fire protection engineer specializing in water-based fire protection systems and the codes and standards that govern their design and application.
Kevin brings extensive experience in sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, water supplies, and NFPA standards development. His work combines a detailed understanding of code and standard requirements with practical engineering judgment and real-world system design experience.
Through K-Factor Engineering, clients work directly with Kevin for specialized engineering, peer review, technical consulting, and complex code and standards questions requiring senior-level expertise.
The K-Factor name reflects both Kevin’s initials and one of the fundamentals of sprinkler system design—the discharge coefficient, or K-factor, that relates sprinkler flow to water pressure.

Kevin Hall, P.E., is a registered Professional Engineer in Maryland and Delaware with extensive involvement in the development of nationally recognized fire protection codes and standards.
Kevin serves as a principal or alternate member of numerous NFPA Technical Committees, contributing practical engineering and industry expertise to the development of requirements for fire protection systems, building and life safety, and specialized hazards.
